European Genre Forum is a pan-european training project organized by Black Nights Film Festival; Imagine Film Festival from Amsterdam (biggest festival for fantastic film in the Netherlands); Fantastic Zagreb Film Festival (largest genre festival in the SEE region) and film consultancy company Screen Division from Paris.
The main goal of this international project is to connect, educate and supported young and
upcoming, as well as already proven, European film talents beginning their career in the genre film
The EGF annual cycle consists of three labs: the Directing lab in Amsterdam (spring), the
Production lab in Zagreb (summer) and the final Sales and Marketing lab in Tallinn (winter) giving
the participants a full range of feedback, skills and contacts by established professionals in the
global genre industry to step their projects up and prepare for financing, participation in co-
production markets and naturally production as well.
The EGF Sales and Marketing Lab in Tallinn (November 26-29) will feature extensive pitch training workshop by
acclaimed pitch trainer Sibylle Kurz, as well as special sessions on topics connected to the sales &
marketing of projects including how to create an attractivce project package, understanding
monetization and deals of VOD and digital platforms, expanding the story universe through
transmedia and brand engagement, and how to develop festival and market strategy.
The Sales and Marketing Lab will finish with the long-awaited Final Pitch of the 8 chillingly fresh
and exciting projects from the participants of EGF 2017 training cycle. Come and discover the

Birds of a Feather (2018) – Silva Mysterium Oy (Finland)

Tinja is a 12-year old gymnast girl who does everything to fulfil her Mother’s high expectations. When Mother confesses to Tinja she’s having an affair and swears Tinja to keep it a secret, it’s too much. Tinja finds a strange bird’s egg and hatches a bird-like monster out of it, which she names Alli. As Tinja befriends the horrifying monster, the creature gradually transforms into Tinja’s exact doppelgänger after each feeding. What Tinja doesn’t at first realize is that Alli carries out all of Tinja’s hidden and worst impulses.

The Hike (2018) – The Greater Fool (Germany)

It’s the first time the four friends and former fellow students Lena, Helen, Marco and Jonas go hiking since their close friend Maya committed suicide. As a violent storm is coming, they find shelter in a deserted cabin, where they discover a doll made by herdsmen for their own entertainment. Marco introduces the doll as a replacement for Maya. But the tension rises as the group starts to hallucinate, now convinced to see Maya instead of the doll. The situation slowly escalates, leading to a violent finale.
